About DILG Ilocos Sur

Serving the Heritage Province of Ilocos Sur with dedication, integrity, and a commitment to good governance since our establishment.

AAAHistory of DILG

AAAThe Department of the Interior and Local Government traces its roots to the American colonial era when the Department of Public Instruction and the Executive Bureau managed local AAAgovernment matters. Through decades of evolution, it was reorganized into the Department of Interior in 1916.

AAAIn 1987, under Executive Order No. 262, President Corazon C. Aquino reorganized the Ministry of Local Government into the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), giving it its present form and mandate to assist the President in exercising general supervision over local governments.

AAAThe DILG Ilocos Sur Sub-Cluster 1 was established to bring DILG services closer to the 11 Local Government Units of the First Congressional District, providing more focused and responsive governance assistance to the municipalities of Vigan City, Bantay, Cabugao, Caoayan, Magsingal, San Ildefonso, San Juan, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Santo Domingo, and Sinait.
